In response to a high number of requests, we are developing an e-Learning module which will give learners a basic introduction to and understanding of hoarding disorder and its causes.

This module will be built in Adapt Builder, and compatible with most DLEs.

In return for your participation in testing the module, we will offer you the finished module for your organisation’s eLearning suite at a 75% discount.

Introduction to Hoarding Disorder

This is an interactive half-day session designed for professionals and front line staff who need to understand Hoarding Disorder, their responsibilities and the pathways available for a person with hoarding behaviours.

This training informs participants on Hoarding Disorder and its causes, develops the skills to recognise and respond to a situation where someone is hoarding, and works with participants to identify and map the resources and pathways available to them to support their clients who hoard.

By the end of this training participants will be able to:

  • Understand Hoarding Disorder and how it may affect the individual, their families and the community
  • Identify common traits of Hoarding Behaviours
  • Identify the role and responsibilities of participants in assisting someone who wants support to manage their hoarding behaviours
  • Understand and map what resources are in the area / borough and how participants can use them to maximise support to thier client
  • Learn what Making Room does and how we can work together when supporting individuals with hoarding behaviours

This is a bespoke full day session designed for professionals and front line staff who work directly with individuals with hoarding behaviours.

Making Room has developed a working toolkit and outcome-driven framework of targeted support using a combination of academic research, proven techniques & existing support services within the borough.

By the end of this training you will be able to:

  • Understand Hoarding Disorder and how it may affect the individual, their families and the community
  • Identify common traits of Hoarding Behaviours
  • Identify your role and responsibilities in assisting someone who wants support to manage their hoarding behaviours

Use the Making Room Programme of Support to:

  • assess an individual
  • design a program of support using the Making Room template
  • consider and source necessary funding if necessary
  • implement a client led, goal specific programme of support
  • understand and use Making Room techniques when working with clients
  • use appropriate measures to track progress and improvement
  • understand what resources are in your borough and how you can use them to support your client to manage their hoarding disorder independently
